The city of Padua is extremely old. It was built on a meander of river Brenta (which later was diverted around 10 kms north). Around 1200 BC, the territory was taken by the Venetics (from which around 1700 years later the name of Venice). They came from east, according to some sources from Paphlagonia (north of present Turkey).
