How to Reach Padova
By Train
Padova is on both the Venice-Milan and Venice-Rome railways, with many trains available. You can check train schedules on Trenitalia.
By Plane
The nearest airport is Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE), located about 40 km east of Padova. It is well connected to major European cities. Low-cost carriers may also fly to Treviso Airport (TSF), which is nearby.
Venice (or Treviso) Airport connections
- Shuttle: A shuttle service can pick you up at the airport and take you directly to your destination in Padova. Reservations must be made at least 48h before arrival, specifying date, time, and flight number. Fare from Venice airport: approximately 44 € per person.
- Direct Bus: Buses run from Venice and Treviso airports to Padova bus station (autostazione), near the railway station. For the Department of Mathematics, stop at Fiera; for Foresteria La Nave, stop at Fiat. Tickets can be purchased at airport shops, vending machines, or on the bus (2 € extra charge).
- Bus to Venezia Mestre + Train: From Venice Airport, you can take a direct ATVO bus to Venezia Mestre Train Station (approx. 17–20 minutes, ticket ~ €10). Once at Mestre, take a regional train to Padova (frequent connections, approx. 25 minutes).
- Taxi: Taxi rides from Venice or Treviso airports to Padova cost approximately 110 €, with possible extra charges for luggage or night rides.
