On Wednesday, July 19 at 9:45, the graduation ceremony of the ALGANT consortium (ALgebra, Geometry And Number Theory) will take place in the Aula Magna of the Palazzo del Bo, right after two days dedicated to thesis defences. ALGANT is a 2-year program offering students a double master degree in pure mathematics. It was created in 2004 by mathematicians from Padova, Bordeaux and Leiden (Netherlands) as an Erasmus Mundus Master funded by Brussels. After almost two decades, it has grown to involve the universities of Milano and Paris-Saclay, in addition to the German universities of Duisburg-Essen and Regensburg and Concordia University in Montreal (Canada).
During the ceremony, which will be moderated by the president of the consortium Prof. dr. Peter Stevenhagen (Universiteit Leiden), 29 students will receive a diploma out of the hands of various professors from the ALGANT universities.
Prof. Marco Ferrante, Vice Rector for Teaching and Education, and Prof. Bruno Chiarellotto, director of the Department of Mathematics, will be the Padova hosts, and graduating and former students will also address the audience. The ceremony is public, but will be streamed online for the benefit of relatives and friends abroad. It is preceded on Monday and Tuesday by thesis presentations of the students for an ALGANT consortium jury that take place at the Department of Mathematics.
