From geometry to dynamics. Integrable bilinear discretizations of quadratic vector fields

Abstract: We discuss dynamics of birational maps which appear as bilinear discretizations of quadratic vector fields. The corresponding dynamical systems turn out to be integrable much more often than could be expected a priori. Recently, geometric constructions behind integrable discretizations of this kind have been discovered.  We will discuss these constructions, along with various aspects of integrability of birational dynamical systems in general.
