When escape trajectories become singular periodic orbits
Tuesday, October 20, 2020, 15:00 GMT
Abstract: I will discuss a novel geometric approach to the study of escape trajectories in Celestial mechanics and Fluid Dynamics. The motivation comes from a generalization of Weinstein's conjecture on the existence of periodic orbits of Reeb vector fields to the singular set-up.
Our strategy benefits in a great manner from the Beltrami/contact correspondence established by Etnyre and Ghrist.
This talk is based on joint work with Cédric Oms and Daniel Peralta-Salas.
